Wilcacocha Lake is in the Cordillera Negra in the southeast of Huaraz city. First we go by car for about half an hour until we get to Santa Cruz Bridge at Chiwipampa village. From there, we start to hike up east direction for about 02 hours. On the way, we go past Santa Cruz village. Over there we can see local farmers and ladies who wear colorful dresses. Wilcacocha Lake is an ideal place to enjoy the nice scenery of Cordillera Blanca peaks such as Huandoys, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Hualcan, Ocshapalca, Ranrapalca, Churup, Vallunaraju and others. It is a lake which still preserves some wild spices such as the Zanbullidor Blanquillo, Yanavico, Gallareta, Pato Puna and other species. Its flora is represented by the large reed (totora). There are also some native people who still keep their traditional customs.
