Santa Cruz Trek is one of the most popular trek in the Cordillera Blanca range, it is one amazing route in order to enjoy the beautiful view of the beautiful mountains such as, Alpamayo, Quitaraju, Artesonraju and others. The Classic of Santa cruz takes four days, the long one takes five days with a spare day in Taullipampa in order to visit Arhueycocha lake by base camp of Alpamayo or just do Santa Cruz mini trek in only three days. The itinerary can be designed according your schedule.

Day 01: Huaraz (3,100 m / 10,170 ft) - Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft) - Llamacorral (3,760 m / 12,335 ft)

After having breakfast in the hotel we go to the north side along the "Callejon de Huaylas" until Caraz, then we take the east-side until Cashapampa (2, 900 m) It takes 3 h approximately, from there we start hiking along Santa Cruz valley, this day is quite warm and dusty! (just in dry season) we hike for around 5-6 hours until our first campsite which is Llamacorral and we stay overnight at 3,760 m (we sleep in tents) Santa Cruz Valley Santa Cruz Valley





Day 02: Llamacorral (3,760 m / 12,335 ft) - Arhuaycocha Lake (4,330 m / 14,206 ft) - Taullipampa (4,250 m / 13,943 ft )

We start hike after our first breakfast in the campsite along Santa Cruz valley, we find Ichiccocha which means small Lake there are some wild birds such as, Andean geese, wild duch and others., after that we enjoy the view of Jatuncocha which means big lake and in the background "Quitaraju Mountain", we arrive to Quisuarpampa then we start hike up in zig-zag in order to reach the view point of the "twin mountains" - "Alpamayo and Quitaraju", we enjoy the nice view of Artesonraju, Pucajirca, Caraz and others mountains. We have lunch over there then we contue until Arhueycocha Lake which is in the left of base camp of Alpamayo, after that we continue until our second campsite "Taullipampa", It has an impressive view of "Taulliraju Mountain" and we stay overnight in tents at 4,250 meters.

Day 03: Taullipampa (4,250 m / 13,943 ft)
- Punta Union Pass (4,750 m / 15,583 ft) - Cachinapampa (3,800 m / 12,467 ft)

We dawn at Taullipampa with an amazing view, after eating our breakfast we start hike up to Punta Union Pass, it takes 3 hours approximately, Punta Union Pass is a beautiful spot in order to enjoy the view of beautiful Mountains such as, Taulliraju, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, Artesronraju and others. also Taullicocha which is below Taulliraju, after that we start going down along Huaripampa Valley for around 5 hours until our third campsite which is "Cachinapampa" and we stay overnight at 3,800 meters in tents.

Day 04: Cachinapampa (3,800 m / 12,467 ft)
- Vaqueria (3,800 m / 12,467 ft) - Portachuelo Pass (4,767 m /15,639 ft) - Huaraz (3,100 m / 10,170 ft)
After our last breakfast at our last campsite, we start walk down along Huaripampa valley passing some small villages, there are local people "saying hello and asking for some candies" after 2 hours and half we arrive Vaqueria at 3,800 meters where the car waits for us in order to transfer us to Huaraz passing by Portachuelo Pass at 4,767 meteres, It is a beautiful spot then we continue by car passing next Llanganuco Lakes which are chinancocha and orconcocha lake mean female and male lakes after hours driving we arrive to Huaraz, end our trip!
